fire commercial - Nov. 11, 2014
|
At 00:07 on 11/11/2014, LRFA E7 and L1 were dispatched to a Commercial Fire Alarm at 823 Brick Boulevard, the Pacific-Brick Theater in the Gaslamp district. E7 was clearing from a incident on the other end of their response area making L1 the first to arrive. Upon arrival L1 reported heavy smoke and fire from the second story. L1 initiated command and requested a full commercial response which came with a complement of two engines, two ladders, one rescue, one medic unit and one battalion chief, a total of 25 firefighters (E7 E10 L1 L4 M1 R3 BC5). Shortly after the arrival of the 1st alarm, ladder companies performing ventilation on the roof stated that they had a partial collapse and that the fire needed to be switched to a defensive mode. All units abandon the building. After the roof completely collapsed L1 and L4 knocked the fire down fairly quickly with their elevated master streams. Command was terminated just before 03:00 and E7 remained on scene with the fire investigator until the investigation was complete at 08:00. Throughout the duration of this incident, LRFA E2 was assigned to a move up to the Gaslamp station. During this time, E2 responded to nine emergency calls throughout the entire district with the help of mutual-aid departments. The cause of the fire is suspected to be an overloaded power outlet. Damages are estimate to be about $3,865,000.

6th alarm chemical fire in jAKELAND - march 23, 2013
Firefighters were dispatched the evening of 3/23/13 to a working fire at the Dyson Manufacturing and Chemical Storage facility on East Suffolk St. When Engine 13 arrived, heavy fire had consumed the main office complex, a warehouse in the rear of the complex and another attached warehouse. The fire quickly grew to 6 alarms bringing in fire departments from all across the region. At 8:38 AM on 3/25/13, Deputy Chief Meyers declared that all pockets of fire had been extinguished. Demolition crews were then able to respond to the scene and take apart the buildings involved. The fire burned for almost 3 days. This has become the biggest fire in the history of the Jakeland Fire Dept. The biggest since the Packard Webster Fire/Explosion in July 2008. The Jakeland Fire Dept. would like to thank the following fire departments who assisted, Lego Twp, St Lego, Portage, Johnstown, Riverwoods, Midlego, South Palm, Rochellle Heights, North Lereado County, Buena Vista, Brick City Beach, South Brick Beach, Westbrick, Charlottesburg, New Brickton, Pauland, Brick Twp, Bergen Heights, New Brickington, Lego Valley, Laurenville and Lego Regional Fire Authority. The fire is currently under investigation. Investigators have stated that the cause of the fire has been determined to be a valve that was improperly shut in the attached warehouse. Once explosive gases reached an ignition source, an explosion occurred which caused all flammable materials to ignite. No one was injured or killed at this incident.

FIRE COMMERCIAL 3RD ALARM - MARCH 21, 2013
|
At 8:45 AM, the RHPD received a call from a motorist reporting smoke coming from 144 Passaic St, Dappers Restaurant. When Engine 831 and Truck 832 arrived on scene, they found heavy fire and smoke venting from the apartments above Dappers Restaurant. Jakeland Engine 7 and Tower Ladder 4 were requested to the scene as well as a second alarm. Lego Twp Rescue 2, East Heights Engine 441 and Johnstown Tower 93 were requested to the scene. A St Lego engine and a Lego Twp ladder were requested to standby at the firehouse. Firefighters experienced a difficult task of combating the fire. Before firefighters were able to reach the seat of the fire, the second floor of 120 Parkway was engulfed in flames. A third alarm was then requested to the scene bringing Lego Twp Ladder 1, St Lego Engine 14 and Lego Regional Fire Auth. Engine 7 to the scene. Jakeland firefighters who were on the second floor of 144 Passaic St had to bail out due to the fire continuing to spread rapidly. Flames eventually shot through the roof as firefighters began to battle the blaze from the street. Firefighters from Lego Regional and East Heights also experienced a difficult task on the second floor of 120 Parkway. The fire quickly grew out of control and spread up to the third floor. Due to the amount of time needed to extend a hose up to the third floor to combat the blaze, the fire quickly flashed over and vented out of the windows on the third floor. Firefighters were forced to evacuate 120 Parkway and three ladders were put in operation to battle the blaze. Eventually, Jakeland Engine 7 was able to re-enter 144 Passaic St to finish the job. Once all visible fire from the exterior of 120 Parkway was knocked down, firefighters were able to combat the remaining fire from the inside. Overhaul became very involved and took an extended period of time to complete. Firefighters operated at the scene for a total of 5 and a half hours. No firefighter or civilians were injured. The RHFD would like to thank the following departments for their assistance: Jakeland, Lego Twp, St Lego, Lego Regional Fire Authority, Johnstown, East Heights, Portage, Midlego, Westbrick and New Brickington.
